Flowers evolved on plants to entise birds and insects, which spread the pollen from plant to plant. A further inducement being the sweet nectar which many insects and some birds thrive upon. Bees and butterflies are often attracted to certain plants. The taste of a hive's honey can be altered by the nectar which the bees feed and gather. The flower consists of two main parts, petals, which provide the colourful attraction,and staemens, which hold the pollen.
