The private ownership of decommissioned military vehicles, whilst less obvious than classic cars, has a hardcore group of enthusiasts. By their very nature armoured vehicles are robust and hardwearing, with a diversity which provides the opportunity for each vehicle to be it's own spectacle. Some are displayed by enthusiasts at shows and some are used for static display purposes (gate guards). The armed forces, of course, like to display their current equipment at shows as part of their recruitment initiatives.
